Until relatively recently the choice of pushchairs in the UK was very limited, you had a pram possibly with a removable moses type basket. It was usually hefty and bulky but it did the job as most people, particularly mothers did not have cars.
As our lives have changed so has the choice when it comes to pushchairs. You can choose from rearward or forward facing so you can choose to have the parent or adult facing the baby or young child. Or the baby or youngster facing forwards so they can see where they are going.
If you are planning to have your babies close together then you may want to consider getting a pushchair that can seat 2 children. For this you will need a twin or tandem pushchair, that means you can have the young ones sitting side by side or one in front of the other. You also have all the additional options such as forward or rearward facing tandem or twin pushchairs.
When looking for pushchairs you will find that the more options and flexibility the pushchair offers the more expensive it will be. As parents we tend to buy what we can afford but you must consider how you are going to use the pushchair.
There are models that are small and lightweight that can fold or collapse down easily allowing you to place it in the car or store it away in a cupboard. You may need a multifunction pushchair that can serve several purposes. As well as serving as a pushchair you might need it to have a removable seat that can be used as a car seat or as a sleeping basket for small babies.
No matter what type of pushchair you need there will be a model that has all the features and specifications that you require. Make sure you write down on a piece of paper what you need in a pushchair so when you look at different models it acts as a reminder for what you really need rather than just what looks good.
Don't forget to buy a moses basket for your new baby. You should make sure that you get an extra set of moses basket covers as well as a good firm mattress and some mattress covers. It is better to be prepared well before your new one arrives home as the first few weeks are quite busy and having everything in place really helps.
